Club Rules

  1. The name of the Society shall  be DRIFFIELD PHOTOGRAPHIC SOCIETY
  2. The objects of the Society shall be to encourage Photography, and to provide lectures, information and advice to further the general interests of Photography and those interested in the hobby
  3. The general management and direction of the Society shall be in the hands of a Committee, which shall consist of the Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Treasurer, General Secretary, the Internal and External competitions secretaries, the Publicity Officer and three other members.  If the duties of the Publicity Officer are assumed by other Officers, the number of additional members may be increased accordingly, if so desired.  The Officers and members of the Committee shall hold office for one year and shall be eligible for re-election.  Should any member of the Committee cease to function in his/her official capacity, the vacancy so caused may be filled by the Committee
  4. The role of Honorary President shall be for one year.  At the AGM it shall be offered to the retiring Chairman.  If the retiring Chairman declines the post it should be filled by election by the members.  He or she may, at their own discretion, sit as a member of the Committee.  (Rule amended  AGM 2012)
  5. The Committee shall have full powers to conduct the general business of the Society with full regard to the general well-being of all its members
  6. The Committee may appoint, from time to time, Sub-Committees (to include at least one member of the Committee) as they deem necessary for any special purpose
  7. The title of Hon. Vice-President or Hon. Life Member may be conferred on any individual on the recommendation of the Committee to a General Meeting for approval
  8. The Committee reserves the right to terminate membership
  9. The annual subscription shall be payable on the first day of October each year (or on election)
  10. Any recommendations or complaints shall be forwarded to the General Secretary in writing for consideration by the Committee
  11. The Annual General Meeting of the Society shall be held at the end of each season for the purpose of receiving reports on the operations of the Society, for the election of President (if appropriate), Officers and members of the Committee, and to transact any other appropriate business
  12. No new rule or alteration to any existing rule may be made without the sanction of an Annual or Extraordinary General Meeting
  13. An Extraordinary General Meeting may be called at the request of five members giving fourteen days’ notice in writing to the General Secretary and stating the business to be transacted.  All members shall receive seven (7) days’ notice of same
  14. Any member wishing to donate cups, trophies, etc. should submit the proposal to the Committee for consideration
  15. If, on winding up the affairs of the Society, there remain, after satisfying all debts, any properties or monies, these shall not be distributed among members but shall be given or transferred to the Disabled Photographers Association or any similar charity
