Chairman Michael Harris opened the new 2014/15 programme, welcoming old and new members before introducing well known Photographer, Richard Egan FRPS DPAGB, from York. Richard’s entertaining presentation featured a wide selection of his activities, concentrating mainly on landscape photography.
On another evening club members were pleased to welcome Photographer Photojournalist writer, Dr Lee Karen Stow (D.LITT) HONS, from Beverley, who gave a very moving presentation “A view from the ground up”, which featured many stunning and often thought provoking photographs of her activities.
Also this month the club held the first regular competitions, based on photographs taken by members participating in the various 2014 summer outings, which was judged by local photographer David Southall. In “The Barrie Shepherdson Trophy” (Prints), Ernie Howard was placed 1st , Richard Foley 2nd and Ernie Howard 3rd. For “The Projects Trophy” (Digitally projected images), Malcolm Ness was placed 1st Dick Roberts 2nd and Ernie Howard 3rd.
The Society were also pleased to welcome York based John Potter L.R.P.S. B.Ed. (HONS.) who is a professional landscape photographer, author and teacher, specialising in landscape and architectural photography. John illustrated various techniques as he showed us a selection of his projects, particularly capturing superb sunrise and sunset photographs.
The club meets in the Maple Room, Bell Hotel, Market Place, Driffield on Mondays at 7.30 pm, new members always welcome.
